John Robert Wiltgen was selected to receive the 2009 Irv and Essee Kupcinet Leadership Award on April 30th, 2009 at an awards luncheon presented by the Chicago Academy for the Arts (CAA). John's involvement with CAA goes back nearly 20 years when he, Essee Kupcinet, Bea Levi and Shelly Zucker created a benefit cruise for the school aboard the maiden voyage of the Odyssey. How fitting that he receive the award that bears Irv and Essee's name, honoring his outstanding volunteer service to the school. In addition to John's award, the CAA also presented its first Alumni Award to Tom Gold ('86), the former principal dancer for the New York City Ballet and the Civic Award to Joan W. Harris, Chairman of the Irving Harris Foundation and Chairman of the Harris Theater for Music and Dance Board of Trustees. |
