| This 12,000 square foot Georgian style home was built in 1917. John Robert Wiltgen Design, Inc. was commissioned to create the renovation in 1986. The design team downsized the kitchen (yes, it was too big) and made the adjacent family room larger. They totally refurbished the 7.5 bathrooms, designed an inlaid marble floor for the entry, custom carpet for the grand staircase and upper hall, and furnished the entire house with period antiques mixed with timeless reproductions. When the work was complete (18 months later) the couple moved in with their two children and suitcases. Five years later, when the family had grown, the designers were called back to help blend a 3,000 square foot addition to the existing manse. Today the family still lives here. Heartwood is the backdrop for this family’s legacy and will be for years to come. |
