John Robert Wiltgen was so impressed with the models his firm designed for Metropolitan Place he decided to move in. The lotus shape of the existing columns inspired an Egyptian motif, the perfect backdrop for Wiltgens extensive collection of artifacts and antique furnishings. He purchased the loft as raw space so his workmen could furnish and install the custom construction details such as: temple like door casings, onyx door knobs, custom built-ins, deluxe bathrooms with gold plated fixtures and a hand carved marble panel. They also created plastered frescos throughout the foyer/gallery, kitchen, dining room and living room. | |
