SOPHISTICATED SUBURBAN SANCTUARYHaving a professional basketball player for a client is a tall order. John Robert Wiltgen Design met the challenge by getting involved in the early planning stages, before anything was built. Total control of the project produced an elegant home with every imaginable amenity, including a spectacular home theatre. Stylized classic details are thoughtfully integrated into this 12,500 square foot suburban residence with dynamic appeal. Foyer and StaircaseA combination of light sources illuminates the entry, including a motorized chandelier that lowers when the bulbs need changing. The fanciful domed ceiling is painted with signs of the zodiac reflecting the children’s birthdates, bringing a personal touch to this dramatic space. Foyer Detail w/ PianoThe patterned marble floors, sculptural staircase, furniture and artwork were designed and handpicked by JRWD to create a cohesive personal style. Home Theatre w/ Mural DetailA decadent gold leaf mural and vaulted ceiling crown this lavish cinematic space. At the touch of a button, the screen drops, lights dim, window shades lower and the movie begins. Home TheatreThis home theater features the latest technological components and heated floors. At the time of the concrete pour JRWD manipulated the foundation to accommodate the stadium seating. Kitchen-OverviewSaffron colored aniline dyed tulipwood cabinets and charcoal dyed lace wood bases were used to infuse exotic wood grains and contrasting colors into this vibrant kitchen. Kitchen-Mural DetailA Picasso still life inspired the mural on the reverse painted glass backsplash. Family RoomThe client requested a wood burning fireplace, large screen TV and picturesque views for their family room. The entertainment center is cleverly housed in a cabinet that’s been wrapped in linen and lacquered black. Master BedroomScale and comfort played a major role in the design of the master bedroom, the custom upholstered bed and six-foot bow front nightstands that function as dressers. A striated wall finish provides visual continuity where the draperies end. Guest BathroomComplementary tones of marble and granite were used to create depth and to distinguish space in this guest bathroom. Guest Bathroom-Sink DetailA contemporary blue glass bowl set against blue Bahia granite from Brazil creates an unexpected alcove, nestled between the shower stall and water closet compartment. Bath Room-Adjacent to KitchenThis energizing kid’s bathroom is located next to the kitchen and incorporates a primary color palette throughout, including the tile, stippled wall treatment and original art. |
