HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA BUNGALOWA gentleman who owns a collection of homes called upon John Robert Wiltgen Design to update a classic Hollywood residence he rents furnished to high profile visitors. The intention was to maintain the charm and elegance of the existing structure, adding new elements to ensure privacy and provide a relaxing environment for entertaining. California’s fabulous weather inspired the creation of an outdoor dining area, a rooftop deck and rambling gardens. EntryLocated near the best restaurants, nightspots and studios, this secluded three-bedroom vintage bungalow is stylishly furnished and available for lease. An ultra modern guesthouse surrounded by lush trees is included, perfect for entertaining or just relaxing. Outdoor SeatingTo capitalize on the California climate, an enticing outdoor dining area was created in the front yard. Sheltered by mature trees, a sculptural iron table is surrounded with seating upholstered in awning canvas, making this retreat as easy to care for, as it is attractive. Round Breakfast RoomFor the breakfast room, John Robert Wiltgen designed a curved leather sectional following the circular architecture of the space. The domed ceiling gets it’s drama from lighting that’s been concealed in the crown molding. A column of television monitors opposite the seating area accommodates a variety of viewing preferences. Master BathThis minimalist spa bath was converted from a screened porch located off the master bedroom. The Whirlpool tub was installed beneath the limestone floor to maximize the surrounding garden views and create a Zen like environment. Guest House StaircaseA staircase leads to the roof top deck of the contemporary guesthouse that features a living room, kitchen, master bedroom suite and sitting room. Guesthouse Rooftop DeckJRWD transformed the rooftop of this guesthouse into an outdoor living room. Sheltering part of the space from the sun with a canvas sail and covering the sectional with awning canvas combines glamour with practicality. BackyardAn eight-foot mirrored wall behind the hedges, prevent the paparazzi from lurking. At night, obscured low voltage lights illuminate the hedges creating a movie set atmosphere. TV Screen at DrivewayHedges encircling the property create a natural buffer from street noise, however they made it difficult to exit the driveway. A close circuit television was installed to provide a visual connection with pedestrians and moving vehicles on the other side of the hedge. |
