DEVELOPER’S DREAM

A discriminating Chicago developer commissioned John Robert Wiltgen Design to create and execute a large, 8,000 square foot luxury residence in the heart of the City. The Wiltgen design team was the obvious choice since they had previously worked on many developments, plus two other stunning homes for the developer.

Being involved in this project from its inception allowed JRWD to fully customize the home, far exceeding the client’s expectations. Glamorous yet warm and inviting, flexible for the needs of a social couple that enjoy balancing entertaining with family time. Like many homes, this is a work in progress.

Kitchen – Cabinetry

Traditional raised panel cabinetry was painted and glazed to accentuate detail, then set against a backsplash of mosaic marble tiles and granite slabs.

The dark mahogany island matches all of the interior doors, which were crafted for the residence in Palermo, Italy.

Kitchen – Lighting

Sculptural silk Fortuny light fixtures varying in size are suspended from the backlit tray ceiling. To create drama and compensate for the lack of natural light, JRWD installed concealed architectural lighting, recessed lights and decorative fixtures.

Working with a local vendor to supply the kitchen cabinets gave JRWD complete control and the flexibility to work in custom sized boxes verses industry standards. Access to the shop also produced perfect colors and finishes.

Butler’s Pantry

The 22-foot long butler’s pantry has an abundance of needed counter space and storage, two Sub Zero refrigerator/freezers and a pair of dishwashers. This space is often used for staging a formal dinner party, to access a powder room or one of the laundry areas.

Girl’s Red Bedroom

This bedroom is a sanctuary for a little girl who adores red. A collection of decorative mirrors makes the room appear less long and narrow and embroidered ladybugs on the valence add whimsy.

Girl’s Red Bath Room

The 19th century Italian vanity made of burled Olive Ash was lacquered white. Its original bronze dore’ hardware was re-plated to match the bathroom’s other chrome fixtures.
