Pulsing with techno music, the Interior Crafts showroom instantly stimulates designers’ creativity. Arranged in electric vignettes, exquisite furniture, contemporary art in mixed media, ethnocentric antiques, and swirling blown glass pieces help clients visualize design possibilities for their own homes. John Wiltgen took his client John Sunderin to the showroom. They were shopping for the Sunderlins’ loft condominium near Union Station in the west Loop. The homeowner said, “I wanted everything in the showroom. I knew I would not see anything like it in other residences because the furniture was all original and could be customized for my space. The company’s customization services bring John Wiltgen back to the showroom time and again. “Interior Crafts is excellent at enabling us to make each piece specific for our clients’ tastes and spatial needs. By changing such design details as a sofa’s skirt detailing, a set box cushion so it has no welting, selecting a nun foot instead of a straight leg, and more, we know every piece will be different,” he affirms. Sue Calvetti, another of John’s clients, recalls, “I felt comfortable buying interior Crafts pieces, because I knew they had complete control over the product and would make the custom details I wanted. You know the moment you walk into the showroom that this product is extremely high quality and very cool.” For their contemporary west Loop loft, the Calvettis bought clean-lined, chrome and sandy brown leather dining chairs with a cantilevered design for comfort. In addition, Sue had a bed customized with a cream leather headboard. “Almost every piece that comes out of the factory is a little different because of the designers’ input,” says Emily. “We want to work with designers who know our capabilities to customize pieces, invite us to come up with new approaches, and challenge us to push the furniture to another level.” Creating a custom piece takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks once fabrics arrive at the factory. Designer Richard Menna’s clients in Wilmette chose an Interior Crafts sofa and dining chairs for their home. “The emphasis in the living room is in our fine art collection. Therefore, we need a sofa that was scaled properly for the room and beautiful in it’s own right, yet, quietly elegant as not to complete with the artwork,” remarks the homeowner. “I’ve had all these Interior Crafts pieces for eight years. I would buy them all over again if redecorating today.”
The enduring appeal of Interior Crafts furniture will live well beyond
the years of those who own it. Made to weather design trends and withstand
the rigors of everyday living, Interior Crafts timeless are sure to
be prized as tomorrow’s heirlooms. |
